This little note of explanation I address to you!

From the commencement of our trip we have been unforgivably behind in keeping the details of our diary, each one of us in turn holding up the next one. At the time of writing this, I am in hospital at St George and the date has slipped by to December 14th. However, I have kept a diary of my own from day to day and have now been asked by Marye and Helen (or perhaps it would be more accurate to say instructed) to fill in the details from where Helen left off. It’s a pity we have let you down for the next few days comments will be strictly mine and I don’t feel that I am the most competent or interesting diary keeper!

I feel the best way to deal with the lag is to copy – more or less verbatim – what I wrote on the days concerned for they were my immediate impressions – on an odd occasion, of course, even mine lagged a day or two but never more than that, so even those occasions are more or less on the spot thoughts!

Well – here we go! – Kath
